The Chelmsford Community Education Ski Program at Nashoba Valley Ski Area was completed as of Thursday, February 9, 2012. We were able to run for six consecutive weeks, despite the unusually warm season which made for challenging snow conditions! We hope your children had a marvelous time!

Youth Ski & Snowboard Program
Chelmsford Community Education is pleased to offer another fun-filled season
on the slopes of Nashoba Valley Ski Area in Westford, MA
for Grades 3-8; limited space available
Please be advised that this is a very independent activity. There are times when your child will be unaccompanied on the slopes by a chaperone or ski instructor. Chaperones will be stationed at the base of the mountain
and are on various trails throughout the afternoon.
PROGRAM INFORMATION NIGHT: December 7, 2011; 6:30 pm – 7:00 pm in the Cafeteria at the CommEd Center,
170 Dalton Road. Rental fitting will begin at the end of the meeting. It is not mandatory that you attend this meeting to enroll your child in the ski program.
PROGRAM: The program runs for 6 weeks. It includes ski/snowboard lessons (optional), recreational skiing/snowboarding, bus transportation and chaperones. Chaperones will be stationed at the base of the mountain and some chaperones will be out on the trails.
DATES: Thursdays, January 5, 12, 19, 26 & February 2, 9 (weather permitting).
OPTIONAL LESSON TIME: 4:15pm – 5:15pm
TIME: After school to 7:00 pm when participants are returned to Parker Middle School.
TRANSPORTATION: Buses will pick up participants at their schools and return them to the Parker Middle School at approximately 7:00 pm. Parents are asked to pick up at that time.
PROGRAM FEE: $275.00 includes ski/snowboard lessons, lift tickets, bus transportation and supervision.
$250.00 includes lift tickets, bus transportation and supervision only.
RENTALS: All rentals must be fitted by Nashoba Valley staff. Ski fittings will be held at the CommEd Center on Wednesday,
December 7, 2011 from 7:00-8:00 pm. or you may be fitted at the Nashoba Valley ski area (see rental fees).
RENTAL FEES: Rental rate includes skis or snowboard, boots and poles for all six days. Ski and snowboard rentals are $95.00. Helmet rentals are $40 for six days (quantities are limited). Helmets may also be rented on a weekly basis directly from the mountain for $10/Thursday. Rentals are payable by cash or check only to Nashoba Valley Ski Area if fitted at the CommEd Center on December 7th, 2011. The CommEd office will hold rental fees paid on the 7th until a decision has been made if the program has enough enrollees to run. This decision will be made no later than December 16th. The rental fitting cost is $105.00 for ski and snowboard rentals if done at the Nashoba ski area. Credit Cards are accepted at the ski area shop.
HELMETS: Are also available for purchase on the night of the rental pre-fit or at the rental shop for $55.00.
This cost is payable to Nashoba Valley Ski Area. Helmets are highly recommended.
GETTING EQUIPMENT TO SCHOOL: If students have their own ski equipment, they will not be allowed to take it to school on
public school buses. Parents should drop off ski equipment at school on each scheduled day. Please check in at the main office of your child’s school to find out where and at what time equipment may be dropped off.
CANCELLATION: If weather is bad, the program may be canceled either by the mountain or if school is cancelled or closed early. We will attempt to make-up canceled trips if possible, but make-ups will not necessarily be held on Thursdays. Make-up dates will depend on the availability of space at the ski area and the ski conditions. REGISTRATION: Ski Registration Forms will be accepted, until December 16, 2011(provided space is still available).
The program is subject to cancellation if there is insufficient enrollment (decision to be made no later than December 16th). All payments for this program will be held until this time. Registrations will be accepted after the 16th as long as the program is running and space is still available.
