INFORMATION FOR PARENTS
Extended Day and Kindergarten/Childcare Programs
Weather & Emergency Closing Information

Following is information that will be helpful to you regarding our usual procedures during delayed school openings, early dismissals, snow days, etc.

Snow Days:
• When possible, we operate our childcare program from the CommEd Center only beginning at 8:00 a.m. On snow days, the decision to open depends upon the timing and projected size of each storm. The building must be able to be kept clear for access and emergency vehicles. Also, school buildings are plowed by our Town’s Highway Department, whose first priority is to keep our streets clear. You should have alternate plans ready in case we are unable to provide care on these days.
• If you decide to use the snow day program, an additional charge of $37 will be added to your next bill, as these are not included in the 180 school days upon which your monthly charge is based.

Delayed Opening:
• Extended Day Programs will open at each location at 8:00 a.m. instead of 7:00 a.m.
• Kindergarten/Childcare will open at 11:00 a.m.

Early Dismissal:
• Extended Day will operate at each location.
• Our K/CC Kindergartners at the CommEd Center will have the option of being picked up by their parents or sent to the Extended Day program in the cafeteria.
• Our K/CC Kindergartners in an elementary school will have three options:
1. to be picked up by their parents
2. to take their regular school bus home (if they have a bus pass)
3. to go to the Extended Day program in the building they are in at dismissal.
• Please pick your child up as soon as possible so our staff can get home safely.

IF “ONLY” PM KINDERGARTEN IS CANCELLED:
• Our K/CC Kindergartners who are at the CommEd Center for the morning session will stay there.
• Our K/CC Kindergartners in an elementary school for the morning session will go by bus as usual to the CommEd Center at dismissal.
• If you are able to pick your child up early, it would be appreciated, as the K/CC classroom could potentially have a double group of students for the entire afternoon.
