Dates: Sunday, December 5, 2010
Time: Depart 7:30 AM–Return 7:30 PM (approx. time) at Drum Hill Rotary
Who: Everyone Welcome
Fee: $119 pp
Our holiday outing begins with a fabulous 9:00 am brunch buffet at Maxwell Silverman’s in Worcester. Dine in an authentic 100-year-old brick factory restored to create an elegant atmosphere. Then we’ll “step into” Norman Rockwell’s famous painting depicting Christmas in the quaint New England Town of Stockbridge where he made his home and worked as an illustrator for The Saturday Evening Post. Once a year the town fathers authorize the closing of Main Street to traffic and create a walking street for a “snapshot” of one of Rockwell’s most recognized paintings. You’ll have time to walk among the antique cars identical to those featured in the famous work and displayed in the same position as in the painting. Relax in a rocker on the porch of the charming Red Lion Inn and enjoy holiday music performed by carolers dressed in Dickens period costumes. Unique gift shops along the street remain open for this popular annual event. Later we’ll pay a visit to the Norman Rockwell Museum for a firsthand view of his Stockbridge Village celebrated work of art. We’ll make a fast food dinner stop (on own) along the Mass Pike en route home. Deluxe motor coach transportation throughout, including an escort.
